“San Domenico lanterns show” is an event that annually takes place in Praiano and sees the city’s residents decorate terraces, balconies, gardens and terraces with candles, lights, wax and oil lamps. This year the festival will be held from 1 to 5 August.
Even the roads will be illuminated in the same way, giving way to the streets of Praiano to be even more interesting and fascinating, all in honor of St. Domenico, whose mother, before she gave birth, she dreamed that a dog with a torch set fire to the world, as if to signify that his son would take the word of God in the world.
The highlight of the event will be between Friday, when they switch on the torches in Piazza San Gennaro, and Saturday, when the religious festival with processions and Masses throughout the day, will also follow the “Festa Barocca”, with special and special fireworks and illuminations.
Finally the tail of the event, Sunday Aug. 5 at 8 pm, Our Lady of the Snows will be celebrated at San Gennaro Church, and at 10.30 pm you will listen to a tribute to Lucio Dalla concert, with students and teachers of Martucci school of Jazz from Salerno.
