Anna is a popular name in Italy, is one of the top names used and that is why on July 26th is celebrated in many places. In Sorrento, the celebration of St. Anne in 2012 will go on actually for three days, as it is the patron of the wonderful village of Marina Grande.
Thursday, July 26
From 5 am to 12 pm – Celebration Masses every hour.
12 pm – St. Anna Mass
8 pm – Solemn Eucharist, blessing and distribution of the “Handkerchief of St. Anna”
Sunday, July 29
6 pm – Solemn Mass
8 pm – Procession through the city streets with the eighteenth-century statue of St. Anne
Monday, July 30
3 pm – Traditional Games
9 pm – Folk Group “Città di Agevola”
11:30 pm – Fireworks Show over the sea
