“Mediterranean” will be the title of the exhibition organized by the Sorrento foundation in honor of Aligi Sassu, a notable Italian painter and sculptor. The exhibition will kick off Friday, July 15th 2011, at 19.00 pm, inside the beautiful rooms and halls of Villa Fiorentino.
The main objective of the event is to enhance the beauty of the Mediterranean through the works of Master Sassu, including sculptures, paintings, and drawings coming directly from his personal archive, about 70 pieces will be exhibited in the rooms set up specially by the architect Augustus Pompili.
The Mediterranean, intended as the main venue of his imagination, and with its colors, Master Sassu truly brings the Mediterranean to life in his masterpieces. His paintings, drawings, reminiscent of the landscapes of Southern Italy and Spain, give enthusiasts of vivid imagery, drenched in heat that Aligi Sassu has always been able to donate.
The exhibition is curated by Marisa Zattini of Cesena and will continue until September.
