It will be Amalfi, on Sunday, June 3, 2012, to host the 57th edition of the Regatta of the Ancient Italian Maritime Republics. Born after the war, the event will challenge the crews of the four cities, Genoa, Pisa, Venice and, of course, Amalfi.
The event will see eight rowers and a coxswain, representing the four cities, oppose aboard fiberglass boats, each one will bring the colors and flags of cities, with particular attention to the figureheads, whereare represented the winged horse of Amalfi, the dragon of Genoa, the eagle of Pisa and the winged lion of Venice.
The race will be preceded by a procession with parades in old costumes, where every maritime republic has the task of remembering stories and characters that have marked the maritime history of their city.
